This quiet, residential district is situated around the Harmoniepark and the Koning Albertpark. The eye-catcher in the historic landscape park that has recently been refurbished is the Harmonie building, listed as a protected monument. A lot of attention has been given to recreation areas for the local residents. The area is bounded by major streets such as the Mechelsesteenweg, the Jan Van Rijswijcklaan and the Lange Lozanastraat, where numerous mansions constitute the access to the city centre. On the far south side of the Albertpark the refurbished brewery site of the De Koninck Brewery has become Antwerp’s new hotspot. This ambitious overall project ‘Antwerp City Brewery’ attracts visitors from far and wide for its beer experience centre with the adjoining beer shop and the imposing old brewing hall. Several authorities have contributed to regenerate the best-known traditional Belgian crafts. Typical Belgian products will be offered for sale in traditional craft shops.
