Developers and investors have breathed new life into these forgotten outskirts in the northern part of the city. From the formerly famous cafés and discothèques in the working-class harbour area, only a few typical sailors cafés still remain. Also the old customs building has given way to smart, modern blocks of flats with expensive lofts. Since the reassessment the area around the small marina of the Willemdock and Bonapartedock has been cheered up with fancy and trendy pubs and restaurants, new hotels and exclusive accommodation on a (sailing) ship. Apart from the Red Star Line Museum and the Felix Archives in the old Felix warehouses, you should not miss the MAS (Museum aan de Stroom). Go to the rooftop floor above the two Michelin-starred restaurant ‘t Zilte after visiting the museum and enjoy a splendid panoramic view overlooking the city.
