This desolate former marshalling yard has undergone a spectacular metamorphosis and it is now the trendiest park in town with a water garden, a skate park and a summer bar. Every year successful cultural events are being organised here, and they do not only attract the locals. Today it is ‘the place to be’ for all trendy Antwerpians. This project revived the working-class quarters of the Dam, the Seefhoek and Stuivenberg. Young families breathe new life into the neighbourhood and consider Park Spoor Noord as their private garden. The popularity of the meat restaurants in the abattoir quarter increases. Perhaps you get inspired by exotic food… Then try the typical Spanish tapas or Polish specialties or the authentic Portuguese cuisine in the eating houses near the Sint-Jansplein that is nearby Park Spoor Noord. Popular local pubs and coffee shops contrast with Panamarenko’s bizarre statue Pepto Bismo and the special cube-shaped Permeke library.
