Activities
Just like in previous years, the Winter in Antwerp programme is once again filled with fun activities for all ages. From storytelling for children from the ages of 4 years old to DJ sets and ballet performances, there’s a nice activity for everyone. Christmas market
Once again, the Christmas market is spread across the Groenplaats, Grote Markt, Suikerrui, the Steenplein and the various streets in between. Indulge in a steaming cup of Gluhwein, enjoy the wide variety of sweet and savoury snacks and let loose at the different stands with fun gadgets and gimmicks.
Ice skating
Tie your skates, get out your gloves and maybe quickly invest in some knee pads because the ice rink is back on Groenplaats! You can rent skates or bring your own and go ham on the ice. After enjoying yourself for a while (or suffering, who knows), you can replenish your energy levels with a nice drink and bite at the Winter bar.
Ferris wheel
For a few months now, the Koningin Astridplein near Antwerp Central Station has housed a Ferris wheel. This wheel will also stay in place for the entirety of Winter in Antwerp. Need a little break from the cold and the crowd after a few hours of strolling around the Christmas Market? Give your feet some relief during a ride on the Ferris Wheel and revel at the unobstructed view of our beautiful city.
Music
The main theme of Winter in Antwerp this year is music. From the JOE Christmas House on the Grote Markt to guest performances, karaoke, musical intermezzos and even DJ sets. There will be no shortage of music this winter.
Lights
As days shorten and we spend more and more time in the dark, the city transforms into a magical winter wonderland with countless beautiful lights in the trees and on buildings. Want to know where you can find the Winter in Antwerp activities? All you have to do is follow the trail of lights to your destination.
Fireworks
Every December 31 Antwerp says goodbye to the year with a bang, and 2024 is no exception! The yearly New Year’s fireworks will once again happen on the Scheldt, around Antwerpen Zuid. You’ll get the best views from the recently renovated Scheldekaai and the Galgenweel. For some added entertainment while you wait for the clock to strike 12, there will also be music at the Scheldekaai. Be sure to get there on time to find a good spot!
