International Beer Day

Celebrate International Beer Day in Antwerp
There arenβt that many holidays in August to break up the daily routineβ¦ or are there? On the first Friday in August, this year that is 1 August, we celebrate International Beer Day!
A Little Bit of History
International Beer Day (IBD) was first celebrated in 2007 in Santa Cruse, California. And although the name has remained the same since then, the celebration used to be anything but international. To no oneβs surprise however, the concept picked up traction quickly, actually reaching the international public soon enough. Definitely take a look at Mr. Hopβs article for a more detailed account of the history and reasoning behind International Beer Day.
August Is All About Beer
International Beer Day is not the only βBeer Holidayβ in August. On the first Thursday and Saturday of the month, you can also celebrate International Mead Day and International IPA Day respectively. That means that we can celebrate three days that are all about beer. And there is no better way to do that than by raising a glass with friends and family!
Celebrate International Beer Day
You could go out and get a pack of your favourite beer, or a few bottles of a new kind youβve been meaning to try, and spend a relaxed day at home. Or you could make your way to Antwerp to celebrate the occasion with like-minded people. If youβre in the mood to discover new flavours, we highly recommend Bier Central. With over 300 Belgian beers, thereβs bound to be a few you havenβt tried yet. Want to dive deeper into the brewing process? Then you can make your way to De Koninck City Brewery. Even though the actual production has moved out of the city, you can still get a tour and tasting or participate in a workshop.
Are you looking for a bite to eat in between all of the beer tasting? Youβre guaranteed to find something to your liking and close by in our list of restaurants.
