International Sushi Day

There’s only one way to celebrate International Sushi Day, and that’s by eating sushi of course!

Every year, on 18 June, the world celebrates one of our favourite dishes: sushi! This ‘holiday’ was born 10 years ago when Chris DeMay decided that his favourite food deserved its own event. And the rest of the world was happy enough to follow suit. We wouldn’t want to be left behind of course, so we’ve found some great recommendations for you to try.

Oost-Azië

Oost-Azië, located in het heart of the lovely neighbourhood of Zurenborg, is the perfect spot to go and enjoy a true sushi feast. With their large selection of Hosomaki, Nigiri, Sashimi, special rolls and fried sushi, you’ll have plenty to choose from here. Experienced chef Sharoj Guanchan, known from restaurant Lucy Chang, provides delicious fresh sushi, a wonderful atmosphere and service, and all of that for only a small price. Pick a table inside or settle somewhere in the sun on the patio and enjoy!

DIM Dining

Are you looking for something a little more haute-cuisine? In that case, DIM Dining is the place to be. It is ‘modern and traditional, Asian and at the same time western’. They combine Asian cuisine with seasonal dishes to make an unforgettable culinary experience, and their efforts were even rewarded with a Michelin star. Pick your favourites from the à la carte menu or let the chef surprise you with an Omakase menu. And you can even get a fitting sake arrangement to complete your experience.

Zaowang

Our final recommendation is a well-known name in Antwerp, as it’s now been 20 years since they first opened their doors in this sushi bar, you can find sashimi, nigiri, sushi, hosomaki, temaki and a large selection of futo maki. Planning to dine with a larger group? You can easily order a sushi boat for multiple people. Zaowang is clearly a favourite among the Antwerp public, because they’ve already opened a second location in the South of Antwerp. You can enjoy their fresh sushi in one of their locations, or you can choose to take it home for a relaxed dinner on the sofa. Enjoy!
