International Lasagna Day

Whether you want to cook or go out for dinner, this is how you celebrate international lasagna day!

One of our favourite days of the year is once again coming up: international lasagna day. Get out your pots and pans on 29 July, or book a table at one of these amazing restaurants, and enjoy!

Switch it up with a different kind of lasagna

There are so many different types of lasagna that are definitely worth a try. And 29 July seems like the perfect opportunity to test a new recipe. Or go a bit crazy and try them all in a full lasagna buffet!

Lasagna Bolognese

Sometimes the simplest recipes are the best, and this easy classic won't need much introduction. Prepare bolognese and bechamel sauce, make as few or many layers as you want (the more the better of course) and finish with a generous layer of cheese. Bake in the oven until everything has heated through and the cheese turns golden brown. Enjoy!

Lasagna with Spinach and Scampi

Is regular lasagna too wintery for a hot summer's day? Try this lasagna with spinach and scampi! Whip up a quick and fresh tomato sauce, marinate the scampi and shrink the spinach in a splash of olive oil. Layer the tomato sauce and spinach and bake in the oven. Fry the scampi in a pan in the meantime. Once everything is cooked to your liking, add the scampi on top and enjoy!

Lasagna with Salmon and Broccoli

Another great alternative with some more veg is this lasagna with salmon and broccoli. Start with a simple tomato sauce, parboil the broccoli florets, and cut the salmon into strips. Combine all of these ingredients in every layer, and add some cream and grated cheese. Finish off with more cream and cheese and bake in the oven, it's that simple!

Vegetable lasagna

The most summery lasagna recipe on the list, and packed with vitamins and taste. Slice tomatoes and a courgette, finely chop and onion, and cube a pepper. Shrink spinach in a pan, season to taste and add cream. Layer the spinach, onion and pepper, and the tomato and courgette. Finish with a generous layer of your favourite cheese, bake in the oven, and you're done.

Take it easy by eating out

Don't feel like toiling away at the stove for that portion of lasagna? Not to worry! Of course we also have a selection of great restaurants for you to try.

If you're looking for a budget option, we recommend BaAma. Want something smack in the middle of the city? Then you'll want to visit De Sinjoor or Pasta Hippo-Vino. A little further from the city centre, in Nieuw Zuid, you can try Trattoria Boretti's lasagna.
