Now that autumn has officially started and the summer weather is sadly behind us, it’s time for some tasty comfort food. From the classic fall vegetables to delicious fall dishes that warm you from the inside out, we’ve prepared another list filled with favourites for you.

Game

The game season is upon us, so this the perfect time to start looking out for the best restaurants to enjoy a nice piece of game. Game and comfort food at the same time? De Sinjoor is the place to be! Their classic rabbit with plums definitely checks all the boxes. A juicy piece of rabbit meat, delicious chicory and crispy fries, perfect for a cold and drab autumn day. Do you prefer duck over rabbit? The Butcher’s Son at Brouwerij De Konick has got you covered.

Pumpkin

Nothing screams autumn quite like pumpkin does. This orange fall vegetable isn’t just tasty, it’s also pretty versatile. A quick Google search for fall dishes gives you a long list of recipes using butternut, spaghetti pumpkin or the classic round pumpkin. A lot of restaurants also add this vegetable to their fall menu as soon as the weather starts turning colder. Some of our favourite restaurants that use seasonal products all year round are The London, Essen and Bar Pêche. Definitely keep an eye on their menus in the next few days and weeks.

Seasonal fish and seafood

Autumn also is a great time for different kinds of fish and seafood. You can start looking forward to amazing fresh North Sea crab, cuttlefish and pout. Pay a visit to De Peerdestal for their fish of the month or try the daily suggestion at Het Nieuwe Palinghuis for some of the best fresh fish and seafood.

Chocolate

If you were looking for an excuse to eat more chocolate, this is it! Cold wind and rainy days are the perfect reason to go enjoy a hot chocolate at Quetzal or a gooey moeulleux at BaAma. Chocolate Nation also welcomes you with open arms and many unique kinds of chocolate for you to taste.
